Matt

Matthew’s natural, sensitive approach lends itself to constructing and holding spaces that allow clients to be reflective in a safe environment, carefully moving at the pace the client sets.

Matthew integrates Psychodynamic, Inter-personal, Attachment, Trauma-Informed, Systems and Emotionally Focussed therapies, amongst others, creating an approach which allows clients to explore their lives and relationships. Matthew offers individual therapy, couples counselling and family therapy.

Matthew likens his work to free-diving in that the counselling he offers is explorative, paced and adaptive for clients, specifically supporting them in their journeys of integrating complex emotions and overwhelm.

Matthew has received exceptional feedback from clients throughout his career. Previously, Matt spent a portion of his counselling history working at Headspace and Breathe Counselling. He has also had experience working in a host of group environments, including youth programs, schools, families, projects in the disability sector and with prisoners. He is deeply motivated by his clients’ core needs, infinitely interested in their stories and deeply humbled by the personal nature of the work. Matthew draws on his unique working history and applied skills to offer a relational approach that fosters trust and safety.

Amanda

I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist specialising in adolescents & adults. Formerly a high school teacher, I have a natural ability to quickly develop relationships with teenagers and specialise in complex issues often affecting adolescents and their families. These issues often recur in adult relationships affecting daily life. By processing and understanding the past, it opens up a way to be able to move forward & improve current relations. I am passionate about not just alleviating symptoms but helping you to understand and resolve patterns of behaviour. Working together, we determine goals and the direction of your therapy.

With a broad range of experience from education, health and welfare sectors, both locally & internationally, I offer long and short term therapy focusing on urgent issues that need attention, to working more deeply to recognise, understand & resolve recurrent patterns or themes. My interests include personality disorders, relationship issues & life changes.

Experiencing feelings of sadness, loneliness, anger and stress are normal. If these feelings persist longer than a week, or come and go frequently, you should contact me or your GP to discuss. Making the first phone call, or sending the email is always the hardest step. I provide a safe, confidential space to listen to your concerns and discuss options.

Oliver

The way I work is interactive, collaborative, intuitive, and respectful. I work analytically with my clients by investigating how early childhood experiences have shaped current thinking and behaviours. We explore the links between unconscious and conscious thoughts, symbolism, beliefs, emotions, desires, and how they impact daily life. The work lies within the unconscious to conscious links, how one relates to their world, allowing unspoken languages of the body to express deeply felt emotions and thought patterns. As your ‘story’ unfolds, together we work to find meanings, diverse perspectives, and solutions to your concerns.

My psychodynamic psychotherapy approach provides a safe, analytical, empathic, and respectful space for deep exploration of the person/s involved. I specialise in trauma, alcohol and other drugs (AOD) but this is not exclusive of other mental health issues I can work with.

Courage is not about the absence of fear but your ability to move within it. This is a quality that exists within everyone, some discover this earlier than others. If this statement resonates with you then I implore you to reach out. I attend to diverse clients with various mental health issues, I mainly work with adults in individuals and couples sessions.
